- Dragstrip Duplicator -with incredible wireless accuracy
The CHRONO-G is designed to be the most accurate dragstrip style timer available using inertial measurement technology. It wirelessly and portably mimics a dragstrip's operation. Pushing "Reset" starts a dragstrip style "tree" countdown then captures the reaction time from "LAST YELLOW" until the starting line is passed. Proprietary algorithms with calibration to each vehicle's suspension in 1/100th of a degree increments and to rollout in 1/10th of an inch steps provide extremely close duplication of the dragstrip's E.T.s - at all distances. All E.T. and distance timers start when the vehicle rolls out to pass the "virtual starting line"- dragstrip style. The only device to not only display both 1/8 & 1/4 mile ending speed, but also true dragstrip speed averaged over the last 66' before those marks. Features for the Tuner and Racer:
* For the bracket racer, set your typical rollout distance, then fine tune your starting tree countdown reaction and vehicle rollout to just cut the "tree" without redlighting.
* Set a speed window and capture the highest peak horsepower, G-force, and speed that occur within it as well the elapsed time and distance required to cover the window.
* Record your vehicle's wind and rolling drag resistance in terms of G-Force which is used for true Horsepower calculation. Review this recorded log at each mph of speed to understand and reduce chassis rolling drag or improve fuel efficiencies.
* Rugged heavy hand polished cast aluminum enclosure, with aluminum support arms and 18-8 stainless knurled knobs, complement and set off any classic vehicle with a professional metallized touch of elegance.
CHRONO-G Design features:
- Highly linear and stable 1.5 G instrument grade bulk-mass accelerometer provides exceptional 7.5 ten-thousandths of a G resolution. This range is ideal for vehicles not using drag slicks with typical 1/4 mile E.T.'s above 11.80 seconds. Higher ranges for quicker cars optionally available.
- Proprietary algorithms with non-linear pitch compensation to 10 deg./G and fine 1000 increment tilt compensation adjustment coupled with rollout adjustment to tenths (1/10th) of an inch, insure accurate calibration to each vehicle, for excellent matchup with dragstrip measured times.
- To maintain its extreme precision, which could easily be lost with component aging, degradation, and temperature cycling, CHRONO-G features AUTOMATIC-RECALIBRATION, typical of only the finest instruments.
- Polished cast aluminum housing provides a temperature stable shielded environment for sensitive components. It reflects & rejects the the sun's impinging ultraviolet rays which can heat soak darker duller devices into temperature drift measurement errors.
- The powerful microprocessor displays any selected reading during the run, not just at the end, while for highest accuracy, it samples and calculates acceleration, velocity, and distance at 200 times/second to capture those small incremental changes lost at slower 100/second sample rates.
- All timing starts when the rollout distance is passed - dragstrip style, eliminating variances, offsets, & 1/4 mile timing errors associated with G-force starts.
- Simple two pushbutton operation - using high quality microforce buttons. Simply push one button to cycle to and read the next of 14 captured measurements for each run. Each sub-component of that measurement, for example, E.T., Speed, and G-Force, alternately cycle into the display.
- CHRONO-G is immediately ready to record all measurements at turn on. No programming or setup required before each run.
- All measurements from the last run are stored in memory, even with power off. Turn on and view the last run until overwritten by a new run.
- All user setup input, i.e.- car weight, number of countdown yellows, rollout distance, tilt calibration, user selected distance, speed bracket, & etc. are permanently stored in memory.
- Audible tone occurs at selected trip and capture points.
- LARGE 4 digit .5" character LCD display for easy viewing at a distance, just like viewing a dragstrip's timing boards.
- Small 4.35" W x 1.75" H x 3.21" D enclosure with small 1-1/4" clear mounting suction cups keep from blocking valuable windshield real estate.
- Low power circuitry uses only one internal common 9 volt battery for power.
- All stainless steel and aluminum construction provides heavy mass stabilization of the measurement platform and rugged unit integrity.
- Wireless operation and solid cast metallic enclosure provides superior shielding against spark and magneto Electro-Magnetic Interference (EMI).
- Each unit is furnished with a hand initialed calibration report documenting its 1/4 mile accuracy on the motorized mechanical testing simulator.
